We started Butler Greenscapes in 2018 with one truck, two rakes and a love for the soil our grandparents farmed in Sandy Spring.
Butler Greenscapes is a small, family-owned landscape studio rooted in Olney, Maryland. We design, install and maintain residential gardens across Montgomery County — from postage-stamp front yards in Silver Spring to four-acre estates in Potomac.
We grew slowly on purpose. Today we run two crews, take on roughly forty design-build projects a year, and care for around 320 lawns weekly during the growing season. Every property is walked by Rosanna or Marcus before a quote leaves the door.
We believe a great yard isn’t the one that looks the best on day one — it’s the one that looks better every spring. That’s why we lean toward native plants, deep mulch, slow-release fertility and irrigation that respects the Chesapeake watershed.
Rosanna grew up two miles from where Butler Greenscapes is headquartered today. After studying horticulture at the University of Maryland and seven years working for a large commercial landscaping firm in Northern Virginia, she came home in 2018 to start something smaller and more personal.
“I wanted to build a company where the person who quotes your project is the same person who walks the finished work with you. That’s harder to do at scale, so we stayed small on purpose.”
Rosanna is a Maryland Licensed Tree Expert (#1428), an EPA WaterSense Partner and serves on the Olney Chamber Beautification Committee.
No subcontractors, no rotating faces. The same people who plant your garden in April are the ones edging the beds in October.
Rosanna leaves a corporate landscaping job and launches Butler Greenscapes with a single F-150 and her brother Marcus.
Diego joins to lead hardscaping. We complete our first 1,200 sq ft bluestone patio in Bethesda.

Match species to soil, light and microclimate — not to a Pinterest board.
Three inches of shredded hardwood does more than any chemical we could spread.
Maryland natives feed pollinators, resist disease and never need to be replaced.
Line-itemed estimates, no surprise add-ons, no high-pressure sales.
You’ll know our team by name. They’ll know your dog by name.
We measure success in soil health, not square footage of mulch sold.
